The Range Artists Association will be offering the following classes

    Fall / Winter 2013-2014 - Ongoing Classes and Workshops


    Fall / Winter 2013-2014 - Children's Classes

    Kid's Art Saturday / 1 Session / Saturday / December 7th, 2013 / 10:00 am to 12 noon

    This fun kids' project will involve creating a Christmas tree table decoration. Using die cut discs of colorful card stock, we sill stack them vertically on a dowel to create a tree about 12" tall.

    Fall 2013 - Adult Daytime Classes

    Life Drawing / 4 Sessions / Thursdays / November 7th, 14th, 21st, & December 5th, 2013 / 1:30 - 3:30 pm

    JAMIE MCDOUGALL will be your Instructor. This class is for intermediate artists. We will start with basic drawing information and work toward shadows and details in drawing.  Each session will cover a different subject matter.

    Materials list: A basic drawing set should include: A white plastic eraser, a kneaded eraser, a drawing pad of paper and a basic black pencil set. This should include several pencils of different hardness, a blender stick (tortillon or stump), a sharpener, pastel stick and a charcoal piece.  The total cost of these items should run about $15.00 retail.

    Fall 2013 - Adult Evening Classes

    Working with Light in Watercolor / 3 Sessions / Wednesdays / October 9th, 16th, & 23rd, 2013 / 6:30 to 9:30 pm

    TERRY MACIEJ will be your instructor.  The first session will consist of a number of small 4" x 6" (or so) watercolor studies using a limited palette and strong light source options - a still life set up will be the subject. The word to concentrate on is "DRAMATIC".  Part of the 2nd session will concentrate on a subject of your choice with some value studies to explore light.  The remaining session(s) will be devoted to a finished rendering of your subject choice.  This will be about a 11" x 14" or so.  This class is open to all levels of experience.

    Materials: Each student is responsible for bringing their own equipment - An good assortment of brushes would be: 1" flat, 1/4" flat, #6 round & #1 rigger.
    Paper; A watercolor set within your budget - 140 # cold pressed, some less expensive drawing paper for studies capable of accepting watercolor paint.
    Paints: A watercolor set within your budget - 15 ml tubes are fine in the red, blue, yellow, umber hues.

    Basic Photography & Camera class / 2 Sessions / Tuesday & Sunday / October 8th & 13th, 2013 / (Tues) 6:30 to 8:30 pm & (Sun) 4:00 to 6:00 pm

    JOE EDMAN will be your Instructor.  Would you like to learn how to take better photos?  Still don't understand digital camera jargon: mega pixels, optical and digital zoom, memory cards, etc?  Well then, this is the class for you!  We will bring the class through the basics of digital camera operation and also photographic techniques such as; composition, framing, use of contrast & light, etc.  This class is designed of those who consider themselves a novice or beginner in digital photography. A "photo" field trip will held on Sunday with a review of your photos to follow.

    Fall 2013 - Adult Weekend Workshops and Classes

    Stained Glass Workshop / 2 Sessions / Saturday & Sunday / October 19 & 20, 2013 / Saturday - 9:00 am to 1:00 pm & Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 pm

    JOANN WIRKKULA will be your instructor for this 2 day workshop.  This class will instruct in the “Copper Foil” method of stained glass. Students will learn how to cut and grind the glass, apply the foil and solder the picture together.  Glass, foil and solder will be included in the class fee.  Students will have 2 (fifteen piece) patterns to choose from for their project.

    Grinders, soldering irons, other tools, supplies, and safety equipment necessary to complete the project will be available for shared use among students.  (If you have tools of your own please bring them)

    Minimum class size is 3 and maximum is 6 students.

    Organizational Outreach Programs & Special Requests

    Organizations, Home Schooled, Groups & Art Birthday Parties

    Request your media and subject and we will furnish an instructor.  Cost dependent on materials involved. Call the Art Center for details.
